Square columns are more common in modern homes and a great alternative to the round columns. Square columns are hollow; therefore, they are not load-bearing. However, they do give the illusion of bearing a great weight. Elite Square Column kits come unassembled and can be installed with or without an existing support post or an existing wall (depending on the widths). It can also stand alone. Our square paint grade columns are also a great add-on to a wide range of our Wainscoting. They can be incorporated into a room where wainscoting is being installed to complete the look. Elite square columns perfectly match our Wall Paneled Wainscoting, Flat Panel Wainscoting, or our Raised Panel Wainscoting.
Our Square Paint Grade Columns are made from Stain Grade Hardwood, MDF, Pine, or Poplar. Custom-sized columns are available by request; call for pricing. We manufacture three basic types of square, wood, interior columns: Smooth, Fluted, and Paneled.
Each Square column is handmade, manufactured using precision machinery, and are sanded thoroughly before leaving the shop. Finishing of the column is made easy due to our stringent quality control process, which ensures nothing leaves our plant without first being checked over for damage and proper sizing.
These columns are great for hiding jack posts in basements. Contractors like using our pre-cut square columns because they are much faster to assemble than drywall and taping. Wood square columns have a more precise look to them as well. All columns are packed flat and are easy to assemble on site. Our lock miter corners make it a snap to nail, pin or glue together. All Elite Square columns are pre-packed and ready for same-day shipping. The Columns are Unprimed and require a coat of Primer and Paint before or after installation. Note: All Column shafts can easily be cut down to size on site.

Square Wood, Post Cover 6"
The 6" x 6" x 8ft column un-primed MDF shaft is shipped with 4-- 8 ft sides, unassembled so that it can be used to wrap a jack post, lolly post or an existing support. The shaft is made up of four sides that go together using lock miter joints for easy assembly. We provide installation instructions, water-proof PVC installation cleats, screws, mounting hardware, glue, tape and the material pre-cut for the base and cap to be installed on site.

The Square Wood Column or Post Cover is a non-load-bearing column designed to either stand on its own or wrap around a jack post, lolly post, or existing support. It offers three options for the capital and base set: Traditional, Craftsman, or Tuscan, allowing you to seamlessly match it with your existing decor. The column shaft is composed of four unpainted MDF sides, each measuring 1/2" thick and 7 ⅝" x 8 ft. These sides are designed to fit together using lock mitre joints, ensuring effortless assembly.

A modern paneled look, characterized by its clean lines. It can stand on its own or it can be wrapped around an opening as a casing to give it a sense of elegance.

Square, Wood HALF Paneled Column
Square, Wood, Half RECESSED PANELED column made from unprimed MDF. The column shaft is 7 5/8" wide, made with 1/2" thick MDF, making the inside opening 6 5/8" square. The column is available in 8ft and 9ft heights. The 9ft version includes a 1ft column shaft extension that is assembled on site. The panelled portion is about 38" high, also made in paint grade MDF. The shaft goes together like a puzzle, using lock mitre joints for easy assembly. All the smaller pieces in the panel kit, and capital/astragal, do require assembly.

Fluted Square, Wood Column
Our Fluted Wood Column has a classic look from our past. It can stand on its own or it can be wrapped around an opening as a casing to give it a sense of elegance. The Column is 7, 8 or 9 feet tall. You may chose either a Tradition Colonial Base or a Classic Tuscan Base.
