Wood Shiplap Planks
Interior MDF Shiplap and Tongue & Groove Planks - Both Nickel Gap & V-Goove.
The Best Alternative to Dry Wall To Make Your Cottage To Look Good.
Due to their expandability and flexibility, MDF Planks are the perfect alternative to drywall in building a Muskoka or Coastal Cottage. In extreme weather, drywall tends to expand, contract and separate, while Planks will move, allowing for expansion and contraction through summer and winter. The interlocked tongue and groove combined with the ½” or ⅝” thickness is more than enough to keep these planks from sagging. These Planks or Wallboards have been designed to replace drywall. If the drywall is existing, you may want to consider thinner "Shiplap Planks" as they can be fastened or glued. Sagging will not be an issue. Save on Cost of Drywall Taping, Mudding, and Priming!
They look great on walls, the sides of staircases, and ceilings. The advantage of using MDF is that there are no cracks and knots to bleed through the paint. These Planks, or the Shiplap version, are often used for wainscoting and included in our Beadboard / Wainscoting Kits.
Our MDF V-Groove Planks have a deep "V" groove often found only in tongue and grooved planks ¾” thick. We not only made the "V" groove deeper, but we made the "tongue" thinner. While other manufacturers may have problems shipping a profile this delicate, our many years of experience in shipping nationwide has taught us how.
You have several options when it comes to exposed joints, bevel the ends, or stager the planks, just like hardwood flooring. Adding some Ceiling Beams is another way to hide seams. This not only hides the seams but adds a unique architectural detail.

Compared to the ⅝" thick Tongue & Groove we use to offer, this ½” thick Tongue & Groove plank offers the same edge hardness. This plank is made from a premium MDF board with higher levels of hardwood to ensure stronger edges that stay in tack during transport. In addition, we prime and buff both the surface and the edges twice to further harden the edges.
Being only ½ thick, it offers the utility of a thin shiplap plank, but with the alignment accuracy of a Tongue & Groove plank that ensures a straight and level horizontal/vertical joint on the wall or ceiling.

Shiplap Beaded Panel
Shiplap Beaded Panel, in Primed MDF, ⅜" thick by 8 ¼" wide with 3 beads 2.7" on center, which we often use to cut down to make panels for our wainscot beadboard kits.
This Deep Beaded Shiplap Panel is new and improved since 2006, they are now 8" wide with three beads per panel as compared to others with two beaded that are 5" wide. This reduces packaging, shipping and installation costs. As always, they are primed and sanded twice, saving labour on the job site.
This Shiplap looks great on Walls or Ceilings. The narrow panels are easy to install on walls with lots of corners, making them very popular for Bathrooms and Kitchens Walls. A similar look can be achieved using our 4 x 8 Beaded Sheets in MDF, or in Beaded PVC for Exterior Applications.

Vertical Shiplap - Sample
Beadboard and Vertical Shiplap Wainscoting Sample Pack. The package includes all the trims and one panel. The panel supplied is V-Grooved on one side and Beaded on the other. When ordering your wainscoting, you must choose one side or the other as only one side will be milled.

Beaded Vinyl Plank
Waterproof, Beaded Vinyl Plank, 8 feet long by about ¼" thick and 7 ½" wide. The planks are reversible, they can be installed showing the beads either 2" or 3 ½" wide on center. Hardwood Shiplap Plank

They are made in many wood species using either a ⅜" or ½" MDF veneered core. Each Plank has 4 Beads, each being 2" on center.
